Handling Matters

Do you practice your handling skills, but, still wish your skills were more fluid in the moment & readily adaptable for the real-life search environments you encounter during trials?  Are you aware of the impact your handling has on your dog during each search? Can you tell if your dog needs support during a search? Are you aware of which handler adjustments will lend support to your dog without interfering with the search?   Through lecture and videos, Sue, Sarah, and Andrea will share best practices for handlers at ALL levels. The best practices they share will help bring awareness of how handlers and their handling impact search outcomes. Armed with this awareness handlers can better support their dogs during the search and adjust their handling more fluidly to meet the demands of individual search environments. Good handling is a skill and like all skills it requires patience, practice, and persistence.
